The Monarch dragon is a rare sight in these parts. For one, it’s small, and rarely does much damage as most other dragons do. This, and the suspicion of some Eastern ancestry has given it the reputation for bringing good luck to those who see it, which, thankfully, has saved it from the eradication that many of our dragon species have faced. However, now people hunt this animal not for protection, but to carve it up for its parts. Everything from its golden scales to its colorful fins are taken and sold in the magics market.

I fear that given the current situation, they may not be around for much longer

Oi, what a sucky background. But then again, this was at first intended to be a design study that sort of evolved into a full piece. I really wanted to draw a dragon with fins that resembled Monarch wings… but it seems that no one notices it.
